Melissa: the herb of Arthemis
In ancient times, Melissa was dedicated to Arthemis, the goddess of the hunt, animals, mountains, forests and plants. It was known to have a calming influence which helped the hunters concentrate and the hunt to be effective.
Melissa is a honey-bearing plant and this is the source of its name: in Greek, Melissa – honeybee / Meli – honey
Melissa was seen as the elixir of youth in the Middle Ages
Melissa has a calming effect.
Helps in the treatment of insomnia and depression, as well as mild heart and anxiety disorders.
Soothes insect bites and helps in the treatment of minor injuries.
Impedes the growth of fungi and becteria and prevents the spread of herpes simplex virus.
It has antiperspirant effects and reduces fever.
Melissa infusion facilitates breathing and has antivirus properties.
Facilitates digestion and is used in treating gastrointestinal disorders
Should not be taken by persons with low blood pressure.
